The Consumer Price Index in Singapore includes a wide range of significant lifestyle areas. Housing, food, transportation, recreation, education, healthcare, and many other categories are covered in the index.

SG Inflation Rate Oct 2022

In September, Singapore’s annual inflation rate was 7.5%. This is the most since October 2008 with food prices increasing by 6.9%. In addition, the expense of housing, lodging, and transportation is another factor pushing prices upward. Over the previous two years, Singapore’s inflation rate has significantly increased. People’s lives are undoubtedly under a lot of pressure as a result of this. As a result, it is waiting to see what Singapore’s ultimate inflation rate would be in October.

3rd Key Events: US FOMC Minutes – Thursday

The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve (Board). They are both given the authority to set interest rates in the United States. The Board decides on changes in discount rates based on recommendations from the Federal Reserve Banks. On the other hand, the FOMC decides on desired levels of central bank money or desired federal funds market rate.

US Fed Rate Oct 2022

In November, the Fed increased the target range for the federal funds rate by 75 basis points to 3.75%. Borrowing rates have reached a new high since 2008. This is the sixth consecutive rate hike and the fourth straight three-quarter point increase.

The Fed aims to attain a stance of monetary policy that is sufficiently restrictive to return inflation to 2%. Hence many are expecting a smaller rate hike in December. Hence, it waits to see what will be shared in the upcoming FOMC meeting.
